Embrace the Champagne (over ice) Lifestyle
Remember the days when adding a few blocks of frozen water to your wine or bubbly would be met with disapproving glances and judgemental mutterings from chino wearing, sweater vest enthusiasts? Well, no more! You find yourselves in expert company as globally recognised Champagne brands have been creating specific Champagne ranges to be served over ice.
First Introduced
The concept was first introduced by the deluxe Champagne House of Piper-Heidsieck, which since its founding it 1785, dared to different. In 2004, Piper-Heidsieck redefined Champagne etiquette by introducing Piper-Heidsieck Piscine, which saw are our fellow Champagne drinkers in the South of France dropping ice into their tipple, while they soaked up the sun on a beach front somewhere in St. Tropez.
Champagne over ice worked for Piper-Heidsieck
Champagne over ice worked for Piper-Heidsieck, because their wines are synonymous with refreshing, crisp and fruity tastes, and it’s the sweetness of the wine that is vital when serving food and drink at lower temperatures. This is because when a drink is served colder, it is perceived to be less sweet by the consumer.
Luckily for us, this has inspired the likes of Moet & Chandon and Veuve Cliquot to introduce their own deliciously saccharine ‘Piscine’ inspired beverages, so we now can easily embrace the latest trend to enter or bars and restaurants.
Our favourite…
