For the love of hot chocolate
It’s hard to imagine a time when the warming delight, that is Hot Chocolate, didn’t exist. Around 2000 years ago, the only people aware of this precious commodity were the Aztecs. Originally called ‘xocoatl’, this cocoa beverage was an essential part of Aztec culture. They lived a dreamy lifestyle, drinking hot chocolate at breakfast, lunch and dinner time (sounds like our kind of diet).
Consisting of ground cacao beans mixed with chilli peppers, hot chocolate was originally bitter in taste and far from the creamy greatness we’re used to today. The Aztecs believed it brought health benefits (and who are we to disagree) – prescribing it to fight fatigue, calm an upset stomach and cure liver disease.
Today the love affair we share with hot chocolate is still as strong as it was back then. At The Fizzy Tarte we understand exactly what it takes to create an exquisite selection of chocolatey beverages which is why we use the quality French brand, Chocolaterie Monbana, in creating all of ours.
Thankfully nowadays there’s less chilli involved and more alcohol!
